What is the Every Teacher Matters Network?
The ETM Network is part of the Every Teacher Matters Project, founded by Suneta Bagri. The project consists of Coaching, Personal Development, Wellbeing Workshops alongside a range of other services, providing wellbeing support to schools and teachers. Launched in 2019.
The network has quickly gathered momentum and now partners with the Teach Well Alliance, founded by Steve Waters.
The Every Teacher Matters Network is for Teachers, Educators, Senior Leaders and everyone working within the education sector.
It is the first of its kind for teachers and senior leaders in education. The network helps a community of like-minded professionals to make well-being their priority, learn, share, and belong through, supportive networking and events.
Steve Waters and Suneta Bagri are on a mission to raise awareness and to help teachers, educators and senior leaders in education to lead fulfilling lives and encourage a positive mindset. The Every Teacher Matters Network is a way to support well-being and empower teachers, and to provide frustrated teaching staff with the tools to take responsibility for their well-being through coaching, learning and supportive strategies.

Why should I become a member?
What are the benefits?
Becoming a member gives you access to a range of wellbeing and personal development tools to use in order to gain clarity, calm and confidence for the important work you do. We teach and provide, proven methods, such as mindfulness and meditation to improve your overall wellbeing. The NHS 5 steps to mental wellbeing are all covered if you were to become a member.
The wellbeing of our teachers must be acknowledged as a priority. Teachers commonly report feeling isolated, alone, unhappy and uncertain about where to find support. The ETM Network is a supportive community which consists of like-minded individuals, taking control of their wellbeing. The responsibility for wellbeing goes both ways, teachers owe it to themselves, their families and their pupils to be well and fit to harbour the challenges of teaching. Equally, school leaders must demonstrate to Ofsted, that they take the wellbeing of their staff seriously.
By carrying out your own learning and development, you’ll not only be improving your morale, confidence, and knowledge, you could also be improving your relationships and performance at work – whether it’s to gain a promotion, move onto another school, into another role, or learning more about your self.
1. Learn new skills (we share lots of wellbeing tools for you to use)
2. Take notice of how you are feeling
3. Be physically active (we teach mindful movements)
4. Connect with other people
5. Give to others (lots of ideas and weekly challenges shared in the private FB group)
What are the key benefits of adopting the five ways of wellbeing?
The benefits of personal & self-development
1) Helps you to figure out what you want to do
By carrying out ongoing personal development, you’ll be learning more about your abilities and aspirations.
You’ll figure out where your values, beliefs, and values lie, not to mention uncover a clearer purpose for what you’re doing – both on a personal and professional level.
Not only will you realise what you do want to do, you’ll also recognise what isn’t working so well and help you to understand boundaries.
2) You’ll be able to establish clear goals
By understanding more about yourself, you’ll be able to set clear and well-informed goals.
The hamster wheel of life at school doesn’t allow time to stand on the balcony and reflect on what we truly want to achieve, expanding your knowledge is a great way to help you make good decisions about your future.
3) You’ll be motivated
With clear and achievable targets, you’ll be more motivated to actually fulfil them – especially if you have a personal development plan to track your progress. This will help you to form new habits which enable you to become the person that reaches those goals.
This means you’ll be more productive in carrying out the tasks you set yourself (whether it’s at work, or home) – and you’ll be more likely to complete them to a high standard.
After all, it’s the only way you’ll achieve your goals.
4) You’ll get a better life-work balance
If you’re not feeling fulfilled in your role, or at home in your personal life, allowing yourself some personal development time is a great way to improve your life-work balance and focus on what’s really important to you.
By carrying out your own learning and development, you’ll not only be improving your morale, confidence, and knowledge, you could also be improving your relationships and performance at work – whether it’s to gain a promotion, move onto another school, or a change of career direction.
